9-10 March 2011 ITB Berlin

Shakeel Adam and Michael Kanacher from Athena Aviation attended the ITB Berlin Convention on the 9th and 10th of March. This event is considered one of the leading gatherings in the travel industry. It brings together airlines, airports, tour operators, GDSs and all other parts of the value chain to meet, discuss and coordinate activities in the industry. For more information visit the convention website www.itb-convention.com.

This year's event certainly had a positive atmosphere with many tourist organisations and airlines seeming very upbeat on the prospects for renewed growth in Tourism. As always, the middle east market attracted great attention, but there was also tremendous interest in the African and Latin American region stands. Home carrier Air Berlin of course put on a great display, as did Brazilian airline TAM, and newest Star Alliance member Ethiopian Airlines. Of note was the fantastic shows by the Uzbekistan and Rwandan pavilions. Of course, we did not get to see all stands, so we mention only some of the great displays we had the opportunity to witness.

We thank all the airlines and industry partners for their great hospitality during the convention and look forward to seeing many of you again next year.
